There is a new gun that is out and everyone thinks it's better then sliced bread. Here is my take on the VPR. What is yours?
Details from http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/VPR
The VPR has the unique feature of having double barrels (both improving and hampering the weapon in several ways) and double magazines, which are also found on another SMG - the Karma-45. It is interesting to note that despite the weapon having two barrels and two magazines, a single trigger pull will not subtract two rounds from the magazine (the game displays 1 round has been fired when looking at the ammunition for the weapon, even though 2 bullets are fired). This effectively means that using the base variant of the VPR without Extended Mags, the VPR actually has 120 rounds per reload.
The main strength of the VPR are its fast reload times (almost fastest in class, very barely beaten by the Karma-45 when it has more than 21 bullets in its magazines), high damage (when both bullets fired connect), and excellent endurance (courtesy of a very large magazine).
On April 17th, 2017, the VPR received a large amount of changes. The gun now kicks more consistently (essentially having reduced recoil), changed the damage of the weapon (seemingly increased it), fixed an issue where when both bullets hit a target, 2 hit markers appeared at the same time (now hit markers are accurate), increased the magazine size to 60 (largest in class), and reduced the reload time (tied with the Karma-45 for fastest in class, meaning the description is now accurate). This means the VPR is much more competitive in-game.
Note that all variants for the VPR are currently only available from the quarter master collection (supply drops) -
The Common Sting variant receives Stockpile (gun perk), which allows for more reserve ammo and a larger magazine capacity of 72 rounds. When extended mags are used, it gets 108 rounds per magazine, surpassing the capacity of the base light machine guns in the game. The weapon already has excellent endurance for an SMG (given that it already has the largest magazine capacity in its class), and having LMG-class ammunition capacity greatly benefits the weapon overall.
The Rare Irascible variant brings Deathbringer (gun perk) and Low Rider (gun perk) to the table. Deathbringer allows the variant to instantly reload when double kills with the weapon are achieved (taking bullets from reserves), useful given the large magazine size, high damage output, and short range of the weapon meaning that the weapon is well suited to achieving consecutive kills. The common gun perk, Low Rider, allows the weapon to have reduced spread during sliding, allowing for a longer range for where hip fire is effective, again fitting the rapid killing pace of the weapon.
The Legendary Wrath variant has Refresher (gun perk) and Steady (gun perk). This variant is geared towards aggressive usage - Refresher allows for the user to refill their equipment after 5 kill gun streaks (meaning that heavy usage of equipment with this variant is advised to take advantage of this gun perk), fitting well into multiple playstyles. The second gun perk is also geared towards aggressive usage - Steady will reduce the hip spread of the weapon. The weapon already has excellently accurate hip fire, and further improving this will mean that hip fire is especially potent with this variant.
The Epic Yokai variant is equipped with the unique Assassin Build (gun perk) and Creeper (gun perk). The epic trait of the Yokai gives a permanently attached Suppressor that also removes the death icon of players killed with this weapon, allowing for an especially stealthy weapon. To balance this, the range of the weapon is automatically reduced, however, this can easily be remedied by using Rifled Barrel on this particular variant. The epic trait also comes with a hidden improvement - as the muzzle flash of the weapon is permanently removed, usability of this weapon is improved (although vapor can still be seen leaving the barrel). Because of the epic trait, the VPR - Yokai is especially well suited to modes where stealth is required, such as Search and Destroy. The common gun perk of this weapon, however, is rather underwhelming, as it simply increases the weapon's crouched movement speed. Although this trait fits the stealthy theme of the weapon, it has little practical application. It is interesting to note that this variant receives multiple visual changes - mainly the integrated suppressor, but the weapon also sports a dark green camouflage, the Kendall Ballistics logo near the newly added stock this variant has, and the removal of the visual-only Foregrip.
